What is Resiliency

Resilience is the ability to adapt and recover from adversity and stress, and it is a crucial skill for achieving mental and emotional well-being. The American Psychological Association defines resilience as "the process of adapting well in the face of adversity, trauma, tragedy, threats, or significant sources of stress." Resilience involves being able to bounce back from difficult situations, cope with stress, and maintain a positive outlook, even in the face of challenges. Developing resilience is essential for building psychological strength and improving overall mental health.

Resilience is not an inherent trait that only some people possess. It is a learned skill that can be developed and improved over time. It requires patience, time, and effort to build up resilience, and setbacks are a natural part of the process. By working on personal behaviors and skills, such as communication and problem-solving, as well as cultivating external resources, like social support networks and coping strategies, individuals can strengthen their ability to overcome challenges and adversity. With practice and perseverance, resilience can become a powerful tool for navigating life's ups and downs.
